We do not have to choose between these two models. Political liberalism [as the child of limiting the power of the monarch on the one hand and religious liberty and freedom of conscience in the aftermath of the Reformation on the other hand] can be a model in which we understand ourselves to be ‘the’ church of Jesus Christ, which tries to be one church in spite of an undeniable pluralism of theories and practices. Communitarianism can be a model of the comprehensive integrity of the particular traditions that constitute this plurality and that keep Christianity from being reduced to its least common denominator.

When I met the cook at a camp a few years ago, he was already talking about food all the time. It was nice to see him and his wife interact about the stuff I was going to eat minutes later.

Every two years we have a weekend together with Ichtus Vlaanderen and the French speaking colleagues of GBU. It is nice to experience reconciliation this way.
